Hi there! My name is Daniel, PhD, and I’d be delighted to use my 11 years of postsecondary education

experience to help you succeed! As for my academic journey, I attended Northeastern University in Boston

starting in the Fall of 2009 as a Chemical Engineering major. During my time at Northeastern, in addition

to my course work, I spent 20 months interning at 3 biotechnology companies full time in the Boston area

doing pharmaceutical chemistry, and medical device biomaterial engineering. While I was taking classes, I

worked with two separate academic labs: in the fifirst, we used lasers to study new ways to detect certain

biomolecules! In the second, I studied new ways to detect and study bacterial infections. My

undergraduate experiences in research and academics really prepared me to go to graduate school!

For graduate school, I attended Stanford University in California in the Department of Chemical

Engineering. I worked in the laboratory of Professor Sarah Heilshorn, and engineered materials that act like

the tissues in your body to create tissue structures that we call organoids! We were one of the fifirst groups

to be able to do this from human intestinal tissue using fully engineered materials. Graduate school took 6

years, but during that time, I learned a ton about science, and about myself. I hope my experiences can

help you along your path if you choose to go that direction!

No matter where you are on your path in academics, there’s a lot of hard work ahead of you. It’s my hope

that my many years of experience climbing to a PhD can help you get there—whether you’re mastering

coursework in high school, looking to get involved in research or thrive in your studies in undergrad, or you

need some personal advice for how to best handle graduate school. I look forward to working together to

help you achieve success!
